Best-selling journalist Bryan
Burrough reports on the hacker war Brian Martin is
accused of running against John Vranesevich and
Carolyn Meinel. Burrough presents evidence that Martin
is a narc. Is this why so many of his Global
Hell buddies are behind
bars nowadays while Martin walked free after being raided
Dec. 16, 1998 as a suspect in the
hack of the New York Times? Sorry, Vanity
Fair articles aren't available online for Martin's alleged
gang to attack. However, the photo of Martin wearing
his "Cult Hero" T-shirt, with the caption "Web
of deception," is worth the price of the magazine.
How accurate is the story? Brian Martin argues
that it is full of errors. Carolyn Meinel agrees that
some of Martin's complaints appear
to be supported by fact.
